Pricing Setup โ€‹

StitchIQ supports two pricing modes โ€” per-stitch and flat rate โ€” plus the ability to set a custom price override on individual designs. All pricing is configured in Settings โ†’ Pricing in your StitchIQ admin.

Pricing Modes โ€‹

Per-Stitch Pricing โ€‹

Price is calculated automatically based on each design's stitch count:

Price = max(stitchCount ร— perStitchRate + setupFee, basePrice)
SettingDescription
Per-Stitch RateDollar amount charged per stitch (e.g. 0.003 = $0.003/stitch)
Base PriceMinimum price โ€” even low-stitch designs won't go below this
Setup FeeFlat amount added to every order (covers digitizing, thread changes, etc.)

Example: A 5,000-stitch design with a rate of $0.003, base price of $12, and $5 setup fee:

5000 ร— 0.003 + 5 = $20.00

This mode ensures your pricing scales naturally with design complexity.

Flat Rate Pricing โ€‹

Every design is quoted at the same price regardless of stitch count:

SettingDescription
Flat PriceBase price shown for all designs
Setup FeeAdded to every order on top of the flat price

Best for shops with a standard pricing structure where stitch count varies little between designs.

Per-Design Price Override โ€‹

You can set a fixed price on any individual design that overrides the global pricing mode entirely:

  1. Open a design in the admin.
  2. Enter a value in the Price Override field.
  3. Save.

That design will always display and bill at exactly this price, regardless of stitch count or global settings. Useful for:

  • Highly complex designs that took significant digitizing time
  • Simple logo designs you want to offer at a discount
  • Licensed designs with a fixed wholesale cost

Clear overrides to restore global pricing

Setting the Price Override field to blank (empty) removes the override and reverts the design to your global pricing mode.

Pricing Display โ€‹

The storefront catalog shows the estimated price on each design card, calculated at page load using the current pricing settings. When a customer opens a design modal, the price is also shown alongside the "Add to Cart" button.

Prices are displayed in USD by default. If your store uses a different currency, Shopify's currency conversion applies at checkout โ€” the displayed price in the catalog is always in your store's primary currency.

Setup Fee vs. Price โ€‹

The setup fee is a fixed charge added to every embroidery order. It's intended to cover:

  • Thread and bobbin setup
  • Hoop setup time
  • Digitizing amortized cost

The setup fee is added on top of the per-stitch or flat price and is factored into the total shown to customers in the catalog.

Updating Prices โ€‹

Changes to your pricing settings take effect immediately for new catalog views. Prices are calculated client-side on page load, so customers who already have the catalog open will see the old price until they refresh.

Orders already in cart or checked out retain the price that was in effect at the time they were added to cart.
