General โ
What is StitchIQ? โ
StitchIQ is a Shopify app for custom embroidery businesses. It adds an embroidery design catalog to your storefront where customers can browse your designs, preview thread colors in real time, get instant price quotes, and add to cart โ all without you needing to manually quote every order.
Do I need technical knowledge to set up StitchIQ? โ
No. Installation takes about 15 minutes and doesn't require any code changes to your theme. The most technical step is copying a product variant ID from your Shopify admin โ full instructions are in the Integration Guide.
Does StitchIQ work with all Shopify themes? โ
Yes. The catalog runs through Shopify's App Proxy, which is independent of your theme. Your theme doesn't need to be modified.
Is there a free trial? โ
Yes โ every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. No charge until the trial ends. If you uninstall before the trial ends, you won't be billed.
Designs & Uploads โ
What embroidery file formats are supported? โ
.pes, .dst, .emb, .jef, .vp3
If you work with a different format, email support โ we're actively expanding format support.
Can I upload multiple designs at once? โ
Currently, designs are uploaded one at a time. Bulk upload is on our roadmap.
What's the maximum file size for uploads? โ
50MB per file. Most embroidery files are well under this limit.
Can I update a design file after uploading? โ
Yes โ open the design in the admin, click Replace File, and upload the new version. The design name, category, tags, and settings are preserved.
What happens to a design if I delete it? โ
It's removed from the storefront catalog immediately. Orders that already referenced that design are not affected โ the design name and properties remain on the historical order records.
Pricing โ
Can I set different prices for different designs? โ
Yes. You can set a Price Override on any individual design. That price takes precedence over your global pricing settings. See Pricing Setup.
My stitch count isn't being detected โ what do I do? โ
Some embroidery file formats don't embed stitch count metadata that StitchIQ can read. If it's blank after upload, you can manually enter the stitch count in the design editor. Your embroidery software can usually report the stitch count for any design.
Can I hide pricing from customers? โ
Currently StitchIQ always shows a price estimate. If you want to offer custom quotes only, the workaround is to set a very low price and add a note that final pricing is confirmed after review.
Storefront & Cart โ
The "Add to Cart" requires a product โ will customers see a generic product? โ
Not if you set it up correctly. The cart product should not be linked to any collections or navigation โ it's used only as a cart vehicle. Customers only ever interact with it through the StitchIQ catalog modal. See the Integration Guide.
Can customers order multiple embroidery designs in one order? โ
Yes โ customers can add multiple designs to cart one at a time and check out with all of them in a single order.
Does StitchIQ support quantity ordering (e.g. 12 hats embroidered)? โ
Customers set quantity on the cart page after adding to cart. Each unit in the order carries the same design and thread colors. If you need per-unit customization (e.g. each hat has a different name), that's a custom workflow โ contact support.
Can I use StitchIQ with multiple stores? โ
Yes โ each Shopify store requires its own StitchIQ installation and subscription. Designs are scoped per store and are not shared between accounts.
Fonts & Text Composer โ
What font format does StitchIQ support? โ
.bx โ the most widely used embroidery font format, compatible with most commercial font libraries and Embrilliance software.
Where can I buy embroidery fonts? โ
Popular sources include Embrilliance, StockEmbroidery.com, Urban Threads, and Etsy. Search for "bx embroidery font" to find options.
Can customers type in any language? โ
The Text Composer supports the characters included in your uploaded font file. Most commercial embroidery fonts cover standard Latin characters (AโZ, aโz, 0โ9, common punctuation). Extended character sets (accented characters, Cyrillic, etc.) depend on the specific font.
Billing & Account โ
How is billing handled? โ
All billing goes through Shopify โ charges appear on your Shopify invoice. There's no separate SaasyLlama account or credit card required.
Can I switch plans? โ
Yes, at any time. Go to Settings โ Billing in the StitchIQ admin and select your new plan. Shopify prorates the difference automatically.
What happens to my designs if I cancel? โ
Your designs are retained for 30 days after uninstallation in case you reinstall. After 30 days, design data is permanently deleted. Your Shopify orders are not affected โ those remain in Shopify indefinitely.
